Some videos of Ryan

It's been awhile since we've posted. Ryan and trying to close on our new house has kept us really busy. We've taken some video of Ryan at 8 weeks and thought anyone keeping track of him might enjoy it. Ryan has started to smile and talk baby talk to us when he's in a happy mood. These videos are of some of those times. The videos are a little large, sorry for that, I'm having trouble getting video editing software to recognize the videos...darn SONY proprietary camera.

Happy Birthday Ryan James Bellinger!

Ryan finally joined the world on July 23, 2007 at 7:01pm. He weighed in at 8 pounds 2 ounces and 21 inches long. Jess went through a hard labor, pushing for 2 and a half hours before they decided that he was in a bad position, and eventually had to deliver via C-Section.

Both Jess and Ryan are doing superb, we are finally home from the hospital. Below are some pictures from the big day, and day after.

It's baby time!

Jess' water broke last night at 8pm. So now we are waiting at the hospital for the baby to make his way out. She is only ~3 cm dialated so far, so we have a ways to go. Her contractions are starting to get a little more painful, so the nurse just gave her some medicine for the pain.

Jess is going to kill me later on, but the main reason I am writing this post is to write down some of the things she says and/or does while under the influence of the meds and I don't want to forget. I feel so bad for giggling, but she is kind of cute under the influence.

So far, she has said or done the following:
"Woah, I feel like I'm in Mario Brothers"
"I have big hands!"
"This is gooood"
"Oh, my head is huge too."
"My hands and head are huge, they are filling with air"
*Jess makes funny pucker/smile faces and plays with her hands*
(While I am holding her hand..) "Woah, your hands are huge too"
"Woah! Almost fell" (She was laying in a bed...)
(I asked her how many fingers I am holding up, I showed 3) "5"
(I asked her to try again) "They're off the ground!"
"This is good stuff"
*Jess makes quiet fart noises with her lips*
"Where we goin'?"
(I responded: "No place, you want to go somewhere?")
"Shop"

It's been awhile hasn't it?

Well, it has been quite awhile since I last posted. Things are still going well for Jess, Ryan and I. We are getting down to crunch time, Ryan should be coming any day or week now. Jess and I are staying at her parents place for the time being, until we close on our house. Yes, you read that right, we have put an offer down on a house and it was accepted! Last Friday we did the inspection and it passed with minor things that won't hold us back from buying the place.

Work at Sensis is going well, they are keeping me busy, and I enjoy what I do there. The hardest part of the job is getting up at 5:30 so I can get showered and be there by 7am.

Ok, less about me, more about Ryan and his mommy. Ryan has been an active little boy, squirming around in Mommy's belly, kicking her ribs and bladder. The last time mommy went to the doctors, he was a little over 7 lbs. She got more pictures of him, and he is coming with a lot of insulation. :) I'll post pictures when I next get my hands on a scanner.

Jess is doing well. Her belly has grown quite a bit, but knowing her, it will disappear shortly after Ryan is welcomed into the world. She has trouble sleeping lately; I can imagine having a huge lump on the front of you can be a little uncomfortable. Aside from the sleep, and eating ~8 times a day, she's doing really well. Hopefully Ryan will join us on the "outside" sometime soon, I can't wait to see my boy and get him into sports as soon as possible. :)

Difficult times ahead.

There's only two and a half months left to go until Ryan gets here, we're getting really excited. Unfortunately, the next month and a half will be the hardest; I will not be with Jess during the weekdays, because I am starting a new job.

I applied and interviewed for a Job at Sensis Corporation in East Syracuse. After many months of waiting, the government has awarded the defense contract to Sensis. Once that happened, I received my offer letter, and start date. I will start on Monday May 14. Tomorrow is my last day at the University of Rochester; I will miss the people there, but I think my new job will be much more challenging and great experience.

So, since I am starting my job, I will be living in Syracuse at a friends place during the week. Nobody will likely hire Jess at 29 weeks pregnant, so she is staying here to work until she is put on disability. After that happens, she will come out to Syracuse, and we will live at her parent's place for a little while. It will be a difficult time, but at least we'll be together when Ryan comes along.

A Long-Expected Post

Well, it has been quite some time since I have posted. I guess the reason is that not much has happened since then. The most important thing that has happened is that Jessica has failed her one-hour, AND three-hour glucola test. That means that Jess has Gestational Diabetes. The good news is that it is easily controlled with diet and exercise.

Ryan is extremely active, constantly kicking his mommy's bladder. It's really neat to sit there and poke Jess' belly just to get him to kick around. I love to play games with him when he presses his foot, knee, or elbow up against her stomach. I'll poke whatever is sticking out, and he'll pull it back in, only for it to return moments later. :) A couple times he'd pull his knee up to his chest or something, because a big bump would drag across Jess' belly; and of course she'd freak out. :)

This past weekend I set up all the stuff for the nursery. I put together the crib, changing table, baby swing, and the mobile above the crib. I have no idea what the stories are about that daddy's have trouble with putting together cribs, I think it was really easy. The theme is a sports theme, so there are footballs, baseballs, soccer balls, basketballs, and baseball bats all over the place. :)

We have an active baby in there!

Well, here we are at 24 weeks and the baby has been very active! He likes to kick, punch, and roll around at all hours of the day. We heard the heart beat on our Bebe Sounds monitor. It was very loud and strong! By the end of this week the baby will be about 2lbs and over a foot long.

Well that's it for now.

Baby Bellinger's First Post

Hello and welcome!

This blog is dedicated to anything and everything about our upcoming first child, Ryan James Bellinger. On this blog we will be posting stories, thoughts, concerns, and pictures of our future baby. We, Matthew and Jessica, want to keep this record as a way to keep the memories fresh, and to share our experiences with whoever wishes to listen.

About Baby Bellinger
We are expecting a baby boy, on July 23, 2007. Right now our name of choice is Ryan James Bellinger. He has been really active for a few weeks now, and has given us a scare already.

A couple weeks ago we went to get the 20 week ultrasound. This is when we found out it was a boy, and we saw him moving around, it was great! Little did we know, that on the following Monday, we would get some scary news. The doctor called, and talked to Jess in the morning. She had mentioned that our baby had only a single umbilical artery (SUA), where normal babies have two. She had mentioned that this could be an indicator of Down's Syndrome. This had Jess and I really upset, as all we had hoped for was a healthy baby.

We went to a genetic counselor, and had another ultrasound to get more results. The counselor told us in more detail about the condition, and put our worries to rest, as the chance of any problems was still very low; something we didn't quite understand from just the phone call. The ultrasound showed that everything else besides the SUA appeared perfectly normal, so there is an extremely good chance that our baby will be perfectly fine; we were quite relieved.

So now, we continue to watch the baby poke and prod at Jess' belly, and have started to pick out things for the baby and his room. Jess and I are going to work on painting wooden letters that spell out his name, and little sports balls like a football, baseball, and basketball. The baby's room is going to have a sports theme to it (yay!).

Some of the ultrasound pictures, isn't he cute!?
